Montana on the Macalister

About the Montana Caravan Park and Campground

Montana Campground Park Layout

The campsite has amenities including male and female toilets and showers, as well as disabled facilities. The amenities will be cleaned daily.  Every camper loves clean amenities so please assist us by leaving them as clean as possible for the next camper. If you have any concerns or there is an issue with the amenities please see one of the crew and they’ll attend to the matter.

Bins for rubbish and recycling will be placed at each fire hose reel.  Please help us by separating your recyclables and double-bagging your general waste.

Water for the amenities and for drinking comes straight from the Macalister River and is regularly tested to ensure that it is safe to drink.  Please take appropriate measures if you are particularly sensitive to anything but bottled or treated water.  For caravans camping on an unpowered site, there is a tap on the north-west corner of the amenities boundary if you need to fill your tanks. A dump point is also located at the north-west corner of the amenities boundary.

Fires are allowed but must be kept off the ground. Fire pits are provided at no charge – in most cases you will not be permitted to use your own.  Wood is available for purchase from the office or you may bring your own.

We have a few items available for purchase from the office including ice but at the moment we do not stock perishable food items. The nearest place to purchase those things is Heyfield, 22kms away. A selection of board games and DVDs are available for hire from the office, and a collection of second-hand books can be purchased or exchanged.

We can accept cash or card payments, with the exception of American Express or Diner’s Club.

The camp ground is surrounded by nature and at times there could be wildlife crossing the grounds of the park going about their daily travels. You may see the odd kangaroo, wallaby, turtle or lizard. But please be particularly careful of snakes.  If you see any wildlife that concerns you or is interrupting your camp, please let Daryl or Dave know and they will assist.

The upstream side of the post and rail fence is a no drive zone.  You are welcome to walk along the river frontage but please respect the privacy of those staying in the guesthouse and main house.

Please leave your campsite the way you found it – neat and clean.  And please recheck your site before leaving for missed items (mobile phones, children & tent pegs)

We are interested in your feedback so if there are any improvements you feel could enhance your future stays at Montana or make it more likely that you would come back, please let us know. Importantly we are also very interested in any negative feedback, this is how we improve what we do to make your stay awesome.
