Montana on the Macalister

Camping and Caravans

Camping and Caravans

Montana caters to all camping and caravans including all sizes of tents, camper trailers, campervans, and caravans on both powered and unpowered sites.  The powered sites are located close to the amenities block while unpowered sites go right to the banks of the Macalister River.

Powered sites

There are 35 powered sites at Montana, located close to the amenities block and with ample shade.  There is also room for parking once you have disconnected your vehicle, which may be necessary during peak times to allow access to the power hats.

Unpowered sites

Montana covers an area of around 14 acres, most of which is open lawn available for camping either with tents or with caravans and campers that can use solar power.  From close to the amenities to the riverbank or down in a secluded corner, you are sure to find a comfortable spot to suit your needs and tastes.

Cabin

The cabin is furnished with a queen bed and a set of bunks, but there is room for a camp stretcher or cot if required (this is not able to be supplied). There is no ensuite but is a short distance from the shower block, and the kitchen contains a microwave, induction stove with pots and pans, kettle, toaster, toasted sandwich press, cutlery and crockery (ceramic and plastic) and a dining table & chairs for four and a heater/fan.   We recommend bringing camp chairs for use outside, particularly if you intend to have a campfire, and a table if you have a gas stove or barbecue that you intend to bring along.  Bedding is not provided.  Please note that although we are a pet-friendly park, due to the health and safety conditions of our operating permit dogs are not allowed inside the cabin or any of the permanent structures on site.  Your dog is still welcome if you are able to arrange/provide overnight shelter outside of the cabin.  A 2-night minimum applies to all cabin bookings.

Public Holidays

Most public holidays/long weekends including the week between Christmas and New Year tend to fill around 6 – 12 months in advance.  Those that are here on any given long weekend or holiday have the opportunity to re-book for the following year before the remaining sites are opened to the public. We do keep waiting lists in case of cancellations. A minimum stay of 3 nights applies to the Australia Day, Labour Day, Anzac Day, and AFL Grand Final long weekends, and a 4 night minimum applies to Easter, Melbourne Cup, and between December 26 and January 2. A 2 night minimum applies to all bookings between January 3 – 22.
